Sometimes, somebody plays a guitar, and you suddenly aren’t alone anymore.
Merlin is about a hundred years older than I am. He’s basically the same fucking age as me. Or maybe we’re just all that age. Maybe every asshole non-achiever with half a rotting brain feels the same way.
Either way, I’m right there with him. Some of the bands are even the same. I wore my bootleg tapes of the DKs out, and then I made some more. “The arizona desert was a wasteland that reflects my insides”, I thought I was so deep writing that in my zine. But even that desert gave me The Meat Puppets & Giant Sand. I used every part of them, They were my bed, my shoes, clothes and food.
Merlin’s exactly fucking right. A song, a tape, an mp3 mix tape (I don’t care if it’s a fucking farce), can and does change the night. It can, and does, change life. Still. Always will.
Maybe you don’t agree, maybe you’ve never felt this way. I’m not really sure I believe that’s possible.
